Nationwide Movement to Enable Consumer-Directed Exchange
One of the biggest barriers to value-based care and true interoperability is providing the right set of person-centric data to the physician and the patient at the point of care to allow them to make a different decision than they do today. Recently, CMS and ONC released two proposed rules that require health plans and providers, upon consumer request, to release all person-specific electronic health information to the individual at no cost via application programming interfaces or APIs. This represents one of the most significant advances in HIT in decades and moves the health care industry into an era of full transparency. Leavitt Partners experts have led the nationwide movement to enable consumer-directed exchange which is helping advance value-based care across the country.
